This was taken about 1956 in Riverside, California. The motorcycle is a Servi-Cycle Simplex 2 stroke
with variable belt drive (now used on the ultra-high gas mileage Honda mini-cars).
It didn't belong to me, but I sure wanted it. I had to wait another 10 years before I got my first
motorcyle.
Notice carefully the penny loafer protective footwear that was popular then.

The Mission Inn courtyard outside the rooms where the  Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics of University of California at Riverside International Astrophysics Conference was held. The topic of the conference was "Physics of the Outer Heliosphere". The Mission Inn is on the National List of Historical Places and is something worth seeing. Its web site is at http://www.missioninn.com/ - check it out.
